Stack Quest Privacy Policy

What we store

• Your learning progress (sessions completed, answers, hints used, XP, streak, skill schedule, and saved code drafts) is stored on your device. When cloud sync is available, this progress is backed up to Google Firebase (Firestore) under your Firebase account identifier, including when you use an anonymous account. Linking a sign-in account lets you recover that progress after reinstalling or on another device; anonymous access alone does not guarantee recovery.
• Usage analytics: when analytics is enabled, learning events such as session starts, answer outcomes, timings, and course identifiers go to Google Analytics for Firebase and our event backend. These events are linked to your Firebase account identifier, including for anonymous accounts; they are not anonymous statistics. Analytics can also include device and OS information. Exercise code and free-text answers are excluded from these analytics payloads. You can turn analytics off in Settings; this stops future app analytics, not existing records or progress sync.
• Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) to fix bugs.
• Problem reports you send from an exercise, with the exercise id and your message. A report can include a screenshot and an email address only if you choose to attach them; reports are filed as issues on our private GitHub project.

What we do not do

• We do not sell data or show ads.
• Signing in can provide your account name and email. You can also provide an email with feedback or a beta request. We do not request your contacts.
• Supported JavaScript execution runs on your device. Saved exercise code drafts can be uploaded as part of progress backup, but are not included in learning analytics.

Your controls

• Export a JSON copy of your progress from Settings.
• Delete account in Settings removes your Firebase sign-in, its cloud progress document and learning events stored in our event backend. Progress on this device stays and can be backed up under a new anonymous account. Delete my data also clears local progress. Both flows stop and report incomplete deletion if backend cleanup fails. These actions do not remove prior Google Analytics records, root user profile/preferences, email delivery markers, billing records, email/group archives, feedback or waitlist records. A hash-derived deletion marker prevents old-account events from being stored again. Contact support about records outside these deletion actions; deleting data does not cancel a store subscription.
• Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device and can be turned off in Settings.

This website

The beta page asks for an email address only to send a TestFlight invite; it is stored on our Firebase project and deleted on request. The feedback button files what you type, the page address and your browser details as a GitHub issue. The site sets no advertising or analytics cookies.
